Taking it on the Chin Chin

Oh, wait! You know what’s Chin Chin, right? In case you don’t, No worries! I’ll tell you!

Chin Chin
Chin Chin is an authentic snack loved for its crunch and nostalgic taste. Even though a Cameroonian, the snack doesn’t prefer suffocating itself within the walls of geographical boundaries, and with this stubbornness, Chin Chin chose to have a taste that isn’t confined to a territory. All African Delights brings us the privilege of grabbing a bite of this heavenly snack by introducing it to the Canadian market. Then why not grab a bite? I know you want to. But how? Hmm… With that said, my question is: What will you have chin chin with? Yeah! I know that the snack is great by itself and doesn’t need a partner! CHIN CHIN IS SIGMA! Haa Haa!… But wouldn’t that be exciting to find Chin Chin a partner? Not any ordinary one but a very special partner. How about considering some options from the family of Fusion Cuisine?

Now, what’s a Fusion Cuisine? It’s nothing but an Intercultural fusion of flavors, giving a new and unconventional taste to their delicacies. Here, I proudly present you 4 unique dishes that holds flavors around the world that would make a perfect pair with Chin Chin. Do not forget to read till the end and you have a surprise!

RECIPES

1. Crispy Chin Chin and Vanilla Yogurt 3 glasses of yogurt topped with Chin Chin along with a large glass filled with Chin Chin
Fusion Cuisine: African-European

This is the simplest and the most refreshing fusion you could probably ever have! What else more delightful can you make in just under 2 minutes?

Ingredients:
• 1 cup All African Delights’ Chin Chin
• 1 cup vanilla yogurt
• Fresh berries (optional)
• Honey (optional)

Instructions:
1. Scoop vanilla yogurt into a bowl.
2. Top with crispy Chin Chin.
3. Add fresh berries and a drizzle of honey if desired.
4. Serve immediately and enjoy the delightful contrast of textures.

2. Fusion Veg Salad

Why go for your usual bland salad when you have the option to enjoy a salad, which is healthy, aromatic and flavorful at the same time?

Ingredients:
• 2 cups mixed greens (spinach, arugula, lettuce)
• 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
• 1/2 cup cucumber, diced
• 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
• 1/2 cup bell peppers, thinly sliced
• 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled (Mediterranean)
• 1/4 cup black olives (Mediterranean)
• 1/4 cup roasted chickpeas (Indian)
• 1/4 cup dried cranberries (Indian twist)
• 1/2 cup All African Delights’ Chin Chin, crushed (for crunch)
• 2 tbsp olive oil (Mediterranean)
• 1 tbsp lemon juice (Mediterranean)
• 1 tsp cumin powder (Indian)
• 1 tsp chaat masala (Indian)
• Salt and pepper to taste
• Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:
1. In a large salad bowl, combine mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and bell peppers.
2. Add feta cheese, black olives, roasted chickpeas, and dried cranberries.
3. Add the crushed Chin Chin for extra crunch.
4. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, cumin powder, chaat masala, salt, and pepper.
5. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.
6. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

3. Paneer Ravioli
Fusion Cuisine: Indo-Italian

Imagine your taste buds dancing in flavor! This happens when the classic Italian ravioli meets the authentic Indian paneer!

Ingredients:
– For the dough:
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 large eggs
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1/2 tsp salt

– For the filling:
• 1 cup paneer, crumbled
• 1/4 cup ricotta cheese
• 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
• 1 tsp garam masala
• Salt and pepper to taste

– For the sauce:
• 1/4 cup butter
• 10-12 fresh sage leaves
• Salt and pepper to taste
• Grated Parmesan cheese (for garnish)

Instructions:
1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, combine flour, eggs, olive oil, and salt. Knead until smooth and elastic. Wrap in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
2. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, mix paneer, ricotta cheese, cilantro, garam masala, salt, and pepper.
3.Roll out the dough: Divide the dough into two portions. Roll out each portion into a thin sheet.
4. Assemble the ravioli: Place small spoonfuls of filling on one sheet of dough, spacing them evenly. Cover with the second sheet of dough and press around the filling to seal. Cut into individual ravioli.
5. Cook the ravioli: Boil salted water in a large pot. Add the ravioli and cook for 3-4 minutes or until they float to the surface. Drain.
6. Prepare the sauce: In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sage leaves and cook until the butter turns golden brown.
7. Serve: Toss the ravioli in the sage butter sauce, season with salt and pepper, and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.
8. Enhance the flavor with a sprinkle of Chin Chin before serving hot.

4. Raspberry Kulfi Ice Cream

How about an ultimate blend of the delicious Indian kulfi with the tanginess of fresh raspberries and some silky-smooth French-style ice cream? Watch out! Your mouth’s watering!

Ingredients:
• 2 cups heavy cream
• 1 cup whole milk
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup condensed milk
• 1/2 cup crushed raspberries
• 1 tsp cardamom powder
• 1 tsp rose water
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• Pink food coloring (optional)
• 1/2 cup chopped nuts (pistachios, almonds, cashews)

Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, heat milk, sugar, and condensed milk over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is well combined.
2. Remove from heat and stir in heavy cream, crushed raspberries, cardamom powder, rose water, vanilla extract, and pink food coloring (if using).
3. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
4. Churn the mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
5. Fold in the chopped nuts.
6. Transfer the ice cream to a container and freeze until firm.
7. Serve scoops of Raspberry Kulfi Ice Cream topped with Chin Chin for an extra layer of flavor and crunch.

5. Gulkhand Umali
Fusion Cuisine: Indo-Arabic

What happens if an Indian marries an Arab? Their children will have Gulkhand Umali! LOL!! The rich flavors of Gulkhand, the Indian rose petal jam, blend seamlessly with Umali, a classic Arabic dessert, creating a taste you can’t resist, even if you want to!

Ingredients:
• 2 cups puff pastry, crumbled
• 2 cups milk
• 1 cup heavy cream
• 1/2 cup condensed milk
• 1/2 cup Gulkhand (rose petal jam)
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1 tsp cardamom powder
• 1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios, cashews)
• 1/4 cup raisins
• 1/4 tsp saffron strands
• 2 tbsp rose water

Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Spread crumbled puff pastry evenly in a baking dish.
3. In a saucepan, heat milk, heavy cream, condensed milk, and sugar over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
4. Add Gulkhand, cardamom powder, saffron strands, and rose water. Stir well and bring to a gentle boil.
5. Pour the milk mixture over the puff pastry.
6. Sprinkle chopped nuts and raisins on top.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
8. Let it cool slightly before serving.
9. Garnish with Chin Chin for an added delightful crunch and serve warm.
